Großer Preis von Kanada 2016, Freitag

Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg is keeping his cool, after a tricky run of form and luck in his bid for a first world drivers’ title.

It’s the big question off the back of the last two races – has Nico Rosberg blown his chance of becoming world champion? Lewis Hamilton has nearly wiped out his lead after successes in Monaco and Montreal, and he is the firm favourite to win the championship with most bookmakers.

After their collision at Spa back in 2014, Hamilton went on to dominate the rest of the season – so Rosberg needs to change the momentum quickly to make sure this season doesn’t follow the same pattern.

The first chance he has is at the new track in Baku, Azerbaijan. It’s a weekend of unknowns, hence the slim pickings in terms of bets. But I have managed to find a couple that may be of interest…

ONE – Nico Rosberg’s season is on the slide but in qualifying he has been getting closer and closer to Hamilton’s qualifying times. The German is due a bit of luck and hopefully his analytical style will help him around the new track.

Nico Rosberg to achieve pole position: 9/4 (SkyBet)

TWO – As in Canada, the Williams car should suit the Azerbaijan track with its long straights. On top of that, Valtteri Bottas will be full of confidence after his excellent podium in Canada. If Bottas has any hope of taking Kimi Raikkonen’s seat at Ferrari, he needs to continue with his strong form at tracks the Williams should performance well.

Valtteri Bottas to finish in the top six: 6/5 (Bet365, Betfair, BetVictor, Betway, Coral, PaddyPower, SkyBet, Stan James & William Hill)

Good luck to us all and please remember to bet responsibly.
