Kyle Cumbers: Your betting tips for Japan
Will Lewis Hamilton’s smile return in Japan after a difficult Singapore? Kyle thinks so.
The Singapore Grand Prix didn’t go with the form book, given Mercedes were well off the pace – but that did not stop us making some money with all three tips a success!…
Following that race, it’s interesting that the market has changed a bit with Sebastian Vettel second favourite, behind Lewis Hamilton, to win the grand prix in Suzuka this weekend – I think that’s the first time this season and probably since the start of the 2014 season that Nico Rosberg has been knocked off his place as second favourite.
This weekend will be tricky to bet on with rain predicted over the weekend in Japan, but I’ve had a look through the various markets and hope to have found some winners…
ONE – Kimi Raikkonen will probably be slightly disappointed with the weekend in Singapore, with his team-mate clearly beating him on Saturday and Sunday. However if you look at the positives, he got himself on the podium and hopefully that will continue this weekend. I’m only really suggesting this bet because the odds seem so high at 4/1 – and if the Ferrari has made a big step forward, those odds looks pretty big.

TWO – The Toro Rossos were excellent entertainment last weekend and their two young drivers are certainly making an impression this year. If there is rain this weekend, I fancy the Toro Rossos to be in and around the points. On these betting previews, I normally go for Carlos Sainz Jr but this week I’m going for Max Verstappen to finish in the points – but Sainz has similar odds if you do prefer the Spaniard.

THREE – Finally, I’m going for the straight forward race-win bet. Thanks to their average weekend in Singapore, the Mercedes drivers’ odds have increased and Lewis Hamilton’s odds to win – at Ladbrokes especially – must be his highest all year. I normally go for bets where the odds are even or better, but to get 10/11 on the driver who has dominated all year are just too big to ignore.
